And after the SPCA had the horses for 77 days in its "care" *PIC*

The Schwab's vets report the serious decline in the health of the mare and foal, injuries, loss of weight and improper medication.

The Schwab's vets also deny the SPCA's vet's asseveration of possible laminitis. Even if the Mare did have laminitis, it would have been more humane to order the Schwabs to treat it, rather than seize and truck a horse with this extremely painful foot condition. The PCA Act and the SPCA's Manual of Procedures stresses that animals are to be treated on site, not seized, wherever possible. But that would mean the SPCA couldn't charge exorbitant "seizure costs" in order for the owners to get their animals back.

So the SPCA has chosen self-enrichment over animal welfare over and over. It has chosen what is best for itself, not what is best for animals. It has chosen to subject animals to cruelty and distress. It has seized animal to "protect them from cruelty", and then it inflicts far greater cruelty by neglecting them - some to death. It has got away with this because BC courts have not yet figured out the game.

But they soon will.

How can the SPCA possibly survive this greatest of all self-inflicted disasters?

After court-ordered return, November 26, 2003, injured, sick, malnourished. Video taken secretly at the time of the seizure coming soon....
