Re: SPCA "approves" of "Pure Bred" rescue groups

My name does not appear on this list compiled by the BCSPCA. It's a good thing that I don't thrive according to recognition and appreciation by the BCSPCA. I would be despondent, feeling that I have given and accomplished nothing for the animals who have shared my home and my love, over the short term or long.
Thankfully, my recognition, appreciation, personal satisfaction and immense reward come from one source and one source only - the animals, their breed irrelevant, which allow me the opportunity to slowly teach them that they are safe in my care. As each one tentatively takes those small steps toward trust and follows by allowing me to share their life, I receive all that I need and more. We, the dog or cat and I, give and receive to and from each other, without condition and certainly without boundaries defined by a specific breed.
If the BCSPCA chooses to place on their list only those who rescue Purebred animals, they must have a reason for doing so. The unfortunate result is that the organization and the animals which are housed at the various SPCA branches are the losers. Both are denied the opportunity to meet and come to know many of the most caring, capable and committed animal loving and animal serving people on this planet.
