Dr Ken Macquisten and the BC SPCA

Help the primates and other exotic animals
The BC SPCA is already incurring substantial costs related to the investigation, seizure and now the care of 15 primates, and 88 other animals including rare Macaws, other parrots, and a range of exotic animals as part of a November 30, 2002 cruelty investigation.

So far costs related to the case have surpassed $30,000 and the case is only beginning.

Some of the costs have included building special enclosures, purpose built at our Surrey facility to house the primates -- $15,000. There will be more costs to house the parrots, the Llama, turtle, and other farm animals.

Costs have included securing the services of primate expert Dr. Ken Macquisten to help with the enclosure design and in the investigation, plus the aid of several other veterinarians and laboratory expenses to ensure the animals were not sick or carrying disease. There are transportation costs, special equipment, security, and enrichment items for the animals -- and of course, the food and daily care costs. There will also be legal costs as we press for cruelty to animals charges.

Set them free
Why would Macquisten put wolves and grizzlies together when any sensible person could have predicted this outcome?
