In our conversations with Linda Douglas she told us how she operated. Many friends have confirmed these details.
The Maltese Terriers lived in the house with Linda and Jim, even in their bedroom. Litters of pups were kept in the house. Poodles, Shi-tzus, etc, had two dog doors into the house and they were in the house frequently. Cocker Spaniels tended to stay outside, but had huge runs, some bigger than average backyards and a heated building with kennels.
Douglas says that the SPCA defamed her over and over, and got away with it. Three years later she is still being insulted by strangers. She will never get over the anger and the shame that the SPCA subjected her to. The trial, what there was of it, shows how the SPCA twisted facts and refused to admit to the truth even under oath.
Douglas began phoning Kuich the day after the seizure to get advice on how to get her animals back. When she got no return call, she went to the Kamloops SPCA (her horses had been trucked all the way to Kamloops), where she was told that she couldn't do anything until she received the SPCAs Disposal Notice (not true). That Notice took eleven days to arrive. Kuich refused to tell them what to do, saying he would only talk to their lawyer. Douglas and Hill told Kuich that they couldn't afford a lawyer. So the SPCA sold all their animals (if it didn't kill any). And then had Crown lay the spurious criminal charges based on the fabricated evidence.
Douglas told us that the SPCA used to come to inspect and always told her there was nothing wrong. But after the arrival of Craig Daniell and Brad Kuich, "Then suddenly Bang! I'm no good! No one told me what the new rules were. I had no chance. My reputation is destroyed and my livelihood. I wouldn't take my dogs away from the families that love them now, but I would like to get my horses back, but I know I never will. I don't have the money to fight them."
