If the SPCA would work with groups like our, instead of trying to erase us *PIC*
In Response To: Feral Cat Policy? ()

I have been trapping feral cats for over ten
years. I have never killed or released them back to the wild, instead I take them home
and allow them to become domesticated. I mix them with very tame cats and allow
them time to adapt to their new home. I run a true 'no kill' shelter a and take cats
suffering from all feline catastrophies. For several years SPCAs were very happy
to send me their feral cats knowing they would be tamed and a home found for them.
Any cat can be tamed, irrespective of the age of the cat upon entering our facility.

I know this works as I have placed hundreds upon hundreds of these cats. What is
so amazing is the SPCA has repeatedly tried to shut me down since Craig Daniell
became the CEO.

In order to tame these cats they must NEVER be caged.
When the SPCA raided me, SPCA Special Constable Eileen Drever told me to cage all my cats.

This is not about getting rid of garbage, this is about taking a life that didn't
do anything wrong except be born. The SPCA could have prevented this problem by
offering free neuter and spay to anyone that walked in their door. They have had
over 100 years to create this problem and now cash-strapped real shelters like ours are
spending our nights sitting in alleys trying to rectify this problem one cat at a time.

If they had worked with groups like ours, instead of trying to erase us, maybe
we would have more cats off the street. Unfortunately, we all have to keep
some money under the mattress for lawyer's fees because instead of
saving animals the SPCA would rather sue us for existing.
