Progress Report: this is another improvement by the SPCA

Not so long ago, sick pups were promptly killed by SPCAs. It would take an hour to find and quote some instances, so we won't, but there are thousands of people all over BC who know this and can confirm it.

Not killing a sick dog is a big improvement over killing a dog because it "might" be sick or is sick and we commend the Trail SPCA.

But we are still left with a problem. The SPCA has still not published its promised destruction stats. So there is no way to know if the Trail SPCA didn't kill this pup but is still killing other dogs that are not great P.R. And since past SPCA destruction stats were proved to be false, and there is still no independent auditing of stats (should they exist), there is no way to trust any stats the SPCA did produce.

The Trail SPCA is the contracted dog-catcher for the City of Trail, so it must seize, impound, and kill dogs that the City deems "dangerous". And it has to collect and impound stray dogs, many of which are typically unsellable, and it can't keep them forever. Perhaps it sends its unsellable dogs to Lower Mainland SPCAs where there is a bigger market. We would ask, but the SPCA never answers us.
