Noah's Wish Responding To Hurricane Katrina *LINK*

Noah's Wish is on alert at this time in anticipation of having to respond to Hurricane Katrina. We have been in contact with a state representative in Louisiana to offer our services and several animal organizations who we have worked with in the past. In addition, we have some of our trained Volunteers who live in the area and we are in touch with them, including Roxanne Mentzer, who has a boarding kennel in Slidell, Louisiana.

Katrina was upgraded to a Category 3 storm this morning with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph. Landfall is anticipated sometime on Monday. When she makes landfall there is a concern she will be a serious Category 4 storm. The current path of the hurricane is in a North West direction. Louisiana, especially New Orleans, is gearing up for a possible direct hit which could result is a major disaster.

We would like to remind everyone who has pets and lives in areas under evacuation orders to get themselves and their animals to safety NOW ! Detailed disaster preparedness information can be found on our website by clicking on Preparedness.

If there is anything that Noah's Wish can do to assist individuals or animal organizations in areas located in the path of Hurricane Katrina we will do what we can to help or refer you to organizations who are also providing assistance.

We will continue to monitor the situation and post updates through the weekend.
