There used to be an SPCA low cost clinic in Victoria

There is a real need for a low cost spay and neuter clinic in the Victoria region BUT a significant question to be raised here is why would the people of Victoria encourage the spending of money on a spay / neuter clinic when they donated many hundreds of thousands of dollars to one already?

The BCSPCA collected money from donations to build and operate such a clinic at the Victoria Branch. I understand that the clinic opened up in 1986 and was doing all the work they could handle and was a real success for a number of years.

Then the Provincial SPCA centralized everything and took away all the money that had been accumulated in Victoria, including that which generated the funds to operate the spay / neuter clinic. The services at the clinic were deliberately reduced to the point where there appeared to be a justification to close it, and that is what happened.

Perhaps all those people who worked so hard to make the clinic at the Victoria Branch of the BCSPCA a reality in the past, should be demanding that the Society put it back into operation and use their donations for their specifically intended purpose.
