WINNIPEG -- A polar bear that Winnipeg zoo officials describe as their "pride and joy" might become the latest target of an international animal-rights campaign.
The director of a Scottish activist group says Winnipeg needs to improve the living conditions of Assiniboine Park Zoo's lone polar bear, Debbie.
Animal-rights critics are saying that 30-year-old Debbie, reputedly the world's oldest living polar bear in captivity, is another example of polar-bear confinement gone wrong.
