Right Honourable Paul Martin:

Thousands upon thousands of voting Canadians continue to plead for the passage of a animal anti-cruelty bill. We have begged politicians from each party to stop passing this bill from one useless forum to the other. The most we have seen happen is that the Bill continues to change it's name so perhaps animal advocates will finally lose track of the proposed legislation.

Canada's antiquated law (written 1892) is a scathing indictment of our society. Quebec has virtually no animal protection laws whatsoever. The other Provinces aren't much better.

Without federal laws, the thousands of puppy hell mills continue to flourish producing misery for dogs/cats and cheating Canadians out of money they spend to purchase an often dying pet.

Do you ignore us because animals can't vote? Be aware that people who respect animals do vote. I, and many of us who spend out lives rescuing animals, will vote for whomever will champion our cause to see Bill C-50 become a reality.

It's time to put a new item on the political agenda. We have heard the same things over and over. If we had the same attention as was given to Gay Rights Legislation (which I agree with), we would not be waiting almost 10 years for the passage of a Bill needed to prevent and punish cruelty.
