This dog was a stray, hit by a car and has a broken leg. He will be PTS within the week if no one wants him (due to him being part pitbull AND having a broken leg). If you can help, contact the SPCA at 250-339-7722. I can go pick him up and hold him for someone (I live in Nanaimo) but can't take on another animal at this time.

They just wrapped it, but they aren't going to set it or amputate it until he has a home.

That poor dog, he must be in so much pain. Is that normal protocol to wait and see what happens?

This may not be the same situation at all. but when I when to pick up Morgaine from the Vancouver SPCA, her leg had not been splinted/set (whatever you call it) and she had just had a pain patch removed. I asked why they hadn't set it. I couldn't figure it out why it wasn't set and was quite irratated. I couldn't get a proper explanation from the front end staff. I talked to the vet before I left with Morgaine. She showed me Morgaine's x-ray. Her break was in a place (comparable to above the human elbow) so that it couldn't be set. She had to be crated for quite awhile to get it to heal. Hopefully this is the same for the pitty cross.

Would he not qualify for the SPCA Biscuit Fund?

i am in courtenay and can pick him up if there is a place for him to go. Poor guy. A friend of mine has recently applied at courtenay spca to foster but hasn't heard back, i think she'd be willing to look after him if a group would cover the bills.

Any pitbull groups willing to help this boy? Apparently he was very good when the vet wrapped his leg. Looks like there are some potential fosters i.e. friend of Bettafrenzy.

Unfortuneately we do not have anywhere for this boy to go, nor the funds nec. for his care, as we have a number of dogs with health issues at this point

Would the SPCA be willing to cover his surgery if he finds foster care?

Just confirmed that this dog is to be PTS today and is not at a clinic but in the branch.

The Bisquit fund may be an option for partial funds (we are calling back about that) Please if anyone can help this dog I'll be the first to send a $100 contribution to his care.

Don't waste time this branch is not prone to holding breeds they don't like.

If anyone helps this guy in time, I would like to send some money for his vet bill. Please post where I should send the donation.

Thanks to the power of the internet and networking this dog has been saved from death. But who gets helped by the Biscuit Fund and who doesn't?
