Prince George Citizen: council won't adopt anit-circus bylaw

SPCA Request Filed

Council Passes on Circus-Ban Decision

Council members declined to act on a BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals request to ban circuses that include animals in their shows.

They voted unanimously to receive and file a statement from the BCSPCA president, requested after the issue was first raised in September, and take no further action.

Nineteen BC municipalities have by-laws prohibiting animal circuses, too bad our City Council doesn’t feel confident enough to stand up and do the right thing. Very disgusting! This City allows anyone and everyone to visit and we don’t care what abuse and/or neglect is involved.

I’ll certainly be interested in the next election. I will not support anyone who can take a report from an organization such as the SPCA that has expertise in this area and then unanimously decide to “take no further action”.
