We have been informed that the previous seizure was of 43 dogs and 19 pups in November 2004. How many did the SPCA not kill? The owner was told by an ex-SPCA employee that all were killed. Another says all but three were killed. We would ask the SPCA but it never says. Even the then-president of the BC SPCA could not find out how many of the dogs seized in Beaverdell were killed.
We don't dispute that many of the dogs were in terrible conditions and needed to be seized. But the SPCA's reputation will continue to be harmed when it kills animals it has seized. An animal that has already suffered so much that the law has to seize it surely to god deserves a shot at happiness - not death at the hands of its "rescuer".
