Watson has been used by the Vancouver Aquarium as their token "environmentalist" for the last decade

Paul Watson was not misquoted because he wrote that editorial piece himself: "Priorities in the plight of ocean creatures" by Paul Watson, Special to the Vancouver Sun - Published: Monday, December 18, 2006

Watson's pro-captivity editorial piece in support of our local whale jail published in the Vancouver Sun newspaper (in part owned and operated by a Vancouver Aquarium director) should come as no surprise to people who follow our campaigns. Watson has been used by the Vancouver Aquarium as their token "environmentalist" for the last decade. During that time, Watson has showed up at Park Board meetings dressed in his captain's uniform to speak against restricting the Aquarium from bringing more dolphins into captivity. He has written editorial pieces like the one I posted on December 18, and done numerous media interviews, including one in Macleans magazine where Watson was quoted saying that, "if I was a whale, I'd like to live at the Vancouver Aquarium."

FYI the last 3 dolphins imported into the Vancouver Aquarium were captured in Japan, and Watson knows that very well.

Don't be fooled into thinking that people and groups who claim to "save the whales" are automatically on the right side of captivity. Greenpeace, for instance, does not oppose whale captivity, either -- but at least they don't interfere with our campaigns!!!

Paul Watson justifies animal captivity
Mixed message is illogical
Watson's logic ends in only one bleak place: The confinement and control of all ocean species, for food, or for fun
See what we mean? Geoduck farms
Annelise Sorg has not got it quite right.
What a letdown...
It's unbelievable what people will believe is true

I would say that Paul has been mis-quoted
If it is untrue, I see it as putting the lie to the Vancouver Aquarium itself
