Dear Animal Advocates Society,

I wish I had done an internet search on Pam Grandmaison and her so called “business” Puppy Pals before I purchased a sweet little Chihuahua puppy from her. Our 9 week old puppy which we named Chili, died only 6 days after we got him. The puppy cost $650, I thought it was a great deal, well that deal turned into terrible heartache and a vet bill of almost $1000. We tried everything to save him, but he died from an unknown cause, he tested positive for Campylobacter bacteria, but that shouldn’t have been enough to end his life, tests showed he had no immune system and very little to no white blood cells. He must have come from a puppymill. It sickens me to think of little 2lb Chili in a place like that.

I had a hunch from the beginning that something was wrong when I requested photos of the puppy and they didn’t match the photos of the puppies in the Kijiji ad Pam had placed. Also in the photos she sent you can see the puppies are kept in a garage, I should of figured things out right then when I saw the photos, but all I could think about was how cute the puppy was and what a great deal it was to get him for only $650.00. Never again will I trust a good deal or ever buy a pet this way again!

Watching Chili struggle to survive was heartbreaking, he fought hard for his life, and we hoped so much for him that he would make it, but sadly he didn’t, he died in my daughter’s arms early Sunday morning a few weeks ago. Chili was with us just long enough for us to fall in love with him. Now Pam wants to send us a replacement puppy and I’m extremely worried we will have problems with this new little guy too, but giving our money back in not an option. The new puppy is due to arrive tomorrow. I spoke with our vet and they said to take the puppy just to get it out of Pam’s garage, and into our home for us to love it and make it a part of our family, which is what we wanted for sweet little Chili. We are hoping and praying the next puppy is healthy and won’t have to suffer the same fate as Chili.

Attached is the photo from the original ad, and photos that Pam sent of Chili before we got him, as you can see the puppies are kept in a garage, damp, cold, paint cans, dust on pipes, horrible conditions for puppies and even worse for tiny Chihuahuas. It’s disgusting!!! I’ve also attached a few photos of Chili I took when he got here, he looked so sick, it’s sad to look at them.

I don’t know what you can do to help, but I just wanted to let you know about our experience.
