Slavery by any other name is still slavery

Animal slavery

I am deeply against the import of any more dolphins to the Vancouver Aquarium.

I have always thought that rehabilitation programs would be valuable for sick or injured animals -- but only if they had the strictest of guidelines governing their release back into the wild.

I disagree with continued trials at breeding captive dolphins or the prolonged hold of healed ones.

The latter amounts to the incarceration of animals able and most certainly willing to live a free life. Whether lifelong or not, incarceration is a denial of freedom.

If we continue to see things in ways that enable us to justify certain behaviours and actions toward others, then we have failed to see things truthfully.

Slavery by any other name is still slavery.
