Stepping into the breach - Vancouver Police and Dr Bruce Burton to hold FREE vet clinic for pets of street people

FREE VET CLINIC
2007-07-05

The Vancouver Police Department, along with veterinarian Dr. Bruce Burton, will be holding a free Vet Clinic tomorrow, July 6th, between the hours of 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Roundhouse Community Centre at Davie and Pacific Blvd. in Yaletown.

This is an opportunity for low-income residents to come and get services for their pets that they may not otherwise be able to afford.

“It’s a great opportunity for police officers to have a positive experience with some of the street youth, as it’s often a negative experience,” says Sergeant Don Cayer. “This helps bridge the gap that sometimes exists.”

Posters have been distributed throughout the West End. As well, beat officers have been handing out business-sized cards with all the clinic information to the homeless and street youths.

Sergeant Don Cayer and Constable Billie Aadmi, as well as the VPD Mounted Squad, will be on hand in the courtyard east of the Roundhouse Community Centre at the event.
