George 'The Catfather' Evens appeared before Mission council members as a delegation Monday night, to urge them to consider his suggestions.

Evens, involved with the Council Animal Advocacy group, asked council to set up an animal welfare committee and start a feral cat program. Had council first done this when Evens first suggested it in 1996, "the problem would be fixed by now," Evens said.

Evens wants all municipal councils to adopt CLAW's proposed "proven effective solutions," outlined in nine steps, and said the group is making similar presentations throughout the valley and Lower Mainland.

Council accepted his presentation "for information."
