Animal Advocates Watchdog

If Bill C-373 is passed, it will set a strong foundation for animal advocates everywhere

I realize you are probably very much aware of Bill C-373, a private member’s bill introduced on October 30, 2006, by Ajax-Pickering MP Mark Holland that addresses animal cruelty legislation. Bill C-373 provides more acceptable penalties and removes the animal cruelty crimes from the property section of the Criminal Code making it easier to prosecute those that neglect and abuse their animals.

There is also Bill S-213, which is a private bill to amend the animal cruelty provisions of the Criminal Code introduced in the Senate by Senator John Bryden. Bill S-213 is inadequate. While it does increase penalties, it keeps in place the 1892 laws which have wide open loopholes allowing animal abusers to walk free and unpunished.

I am forwarding some information to you in hopes that it may provide a bigger network and support. If Bill C-373 is passed, it will set a strong foundation for animal advocates everywhere.
