OKOTOKS -- An animal rescue group hopes to make a difference for dogs and cats on the Blood reserve in southern Alberta.

The Okotoks group has spayed, neutered, vaccinated and tattooed dozens of animals for free.

R.J. Baillot of Pound Rescue says there's a crisis right now with too many unwanted animals dying in shelters.

He says people are being supportive of the initiative because they realize that spaying and neutering the animals will help cut down on the population of unwanted pets.

Pound Rescue is organized by volunteers and funded through donations.
