He insisted, instead, that I buy a bottle of Omega 3

Just wanted to pass along a personal anecdote - when my beloved Sam had her first seizure and we were frantic trying to find out the cause, I pressured her vet at the time to do all these tests to either find the answer or rule out various causes. As a matter of fact, I was telling him what tests to run. When it came time for the last request - that he get us a referral with a neurologist, because I had started to suspect a brain tumor - he refused, telling me I was only going to be wasting the $300 examination fee. He insisted, instead, that I buy a bottle of Omega 3 from him and give it to her twice a day. It would make her "right as rain" I believed he said. That after I'd spent somewhere in the neighbourhood of $2000 running various other tests and paying his consultation fees. Sammy was naturally going down hill during all of this. Of course it was a brain tumor and the emergency room vet (when Sam had her second seizure and went status) got us in to see the neurologist. That first vet never saw us again after his Omega 3 routine, but rest assured he got an earful from me.

That's my two cents.

Never doubt a dog mother when it comes to the health of her fur-babies. And don't ever try to placate her either.
