Every business has waste management problems including animal welfare societies that are not no-kill. These organizations may very well have problems if their donators conclude that these societies manage their waste (ie the excess animals that they cannot otherwise adopt out or sell) by killing them. These organizations may very well have even greater problems if their donators learn how many excess animals are actually killed by these animal welfare societies.

Over a period of time in the past, it was reported to AAS by a member of the animal rescue community that she witnessed , on at least a weekly basis, SPCA vans unload bags of dead cats and dogs at the Chilliwack dump. AAS is happy to report that it has not had a report of SPCA vans driving up to dumps and off-loading the week's kill for several years. While AAS believes that it is still likely that animals bodies are still disposed of in dumps in part of BC, it would appear that pet waste management in BC is slowly changing. Because of the increasing interest is animal welfare, there is an increasing need for more acceptable methods of 'waste management' when it comes to dealing with the animals that do not survive the system.
