Anti-Vivisection Society to protest expansion of UBC's animal research facilities *LINK*

The Animal Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society of BC will be at the Student Union Building at UBC on Wednesday, September 10th between 12 noon and 2p.m.

Come with us! We will be handing out information regarding the expansion of UBC's animal research facilities, the tragically flawed science of basing human medicine and toxicological data upon animal experiments, and the many exciting, more reliable alternatives available.

This will be a peaceful leafleting event, rain or shine. Please join us as we make new and returning students aware that their chosen
university is one of the largest producers and consumers of 'laboratory animals' anywhere in the world, and that the Canadian Council on Animal Care which oversees the animals used in research is in itself a mostly scientific body. Their guidelines allow for "Experiments causing severe pain near, at, or ABOVE the pain tolerance threshold of unanaesthetised, conscious animals" (CI=E). Over 100,000 animals in Canada endured this indefensible cruelty
in 2006 alone.

We can't let this continue.
