Cara the Italian street dog needs your help to get to Jollity Farm in Cornwall, England *LINK* *PIC*

For many years, friends of AAS have generously helped to pay the bills for dogs and cats rescued in BC. I personally have made donations toward the rescue and care and rehoming of dogs in countries where dogs still live and die on the streets and alleys. So I made a $50 donation to help Cara get off the mean streets of Southern Italy and into a home in Cornwall. It's not much, but if friends of AAS chip in, perhaps we can all help to rescue and rehome a dear dog far away, the same generous way we rescue dogs in BC.

Cara, a young, cute, friendly, foxy dog desperately seeks help in Calabria, the far south of Italy. Abandoned and scrounging food, walking the streets in the hope of ransacking bins, being shouted at, threatened and almost certainly beaten, for some two years, Cara's life was tough.

But an English animal lover came across Cara and took her under her wing. She has been given all necessary veterinary treatment, spayed and vaccinated. Cara has learnt to play and to some extent, to trust. Now she is a lively, happy, sociable creature.

An extensive appeal was put out for a good permanent home for Cara but sadly nothing came of it. The situation with abandoned dogs in the south of Italy is tragic and finding homes is nigh on impossible. Cara is currently in a private boarding kennel but is desperately in need of a loving, caring family to take care of her. Sadly she seems destined not to find what she is seeking in the south of Italy.

There is an offer of a fantastic home for life for her at Jollity Farm in Cornwall. It would be a dream come true if Cara could somehow go there. The pet passport scheme allows this without Cara having to be kept in quarantine on arrival in the UK. She must spend six months in her current kennels whilst essential documentation is prepared and veterinary care given. Unfortunately, to make Cara's dream come true money is needed to pay for her ongoing kennel fees of 150.00 euros monthly, as well as the extra vet costs and travel expenses.

Please help make Cara happy!
