How wonderful to see mainstream media starting to really focus on what we should be eating and why. Dr Neal Barnard, founder of the wonderful Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (www.pcrm.org ) was on Extra on Friday talking about the benefits of vegan diets. You can watch the fun little segment here:

And please post an appreciative comment on that page. Positive feedback for veg-friendly coverage encourages more of it!

Coming up on Tuesday, October 14, big news! Oprah is covering "How We Treat the Animals We Eat." Go to http://www.oprah.com/index .

On the screen on the rights side of your screen, click on "Tue" to see the promo video. You'll see footage of horrendous battery cages and sow gestation crates, and hear HSUS's Wayne Pacelle saying "The issue is the decency toward the animals." He is no doubt talking about California's Proposition 2, which would ban some of the most heinous caging.

Your feedback on Oprah's fantastic puppy mill segments surely encouraged her and her producers to continue exploring animal issues. So now, please send her a huge thank you for this Tuesday's coverage.

Go to https://www.oprah.com/plugform.jsp?plugId=220 to send her a quick note.

I send thanks to all the folks who sent me notes making sure we knew to watch Oprah on Tuesday!

Yours and the animals',

Karen Dawn
