I watched this documentary through tears

It was horrible to see these beautiful, wild dolphins being taken from the water by force, and subjected to pre-travel medical testing. When they showed a piece of plastic tubing being rammed down the throat of one dolphin to get samples of its stomach acid, I nearly turned the tv off. And to hear the people in the documentary justify this as part of conservation just made me sick with anger. The government is to blame because they lifted a ban on exporting these wild dolphins, and gave out business licenses so that it was all legal and environmentalists could do nothing to stop it. The very fact that all 27 of the original batch of wild caught dolphins filmed in this documentary, either died of starvation or mysteriously disappeared while being held at the facility, is very disturbing. Even when experts told the "owner" of these dolphins a year prior, that they were already sick and emaciated, the owner wouldn't listen, and now nobody will say what happened to them all. After getting a new business license they simply went out and hunted for another batch. The scientists interviewed stated that for anyone to take such a large number of dolphins from one family pod, seriously jeopardizes the ability of that pod to reproduce and survive. And of course many that were captured were females (some pregnant already) so those were not sold to Dubai with the others, but rather kept for captive breeding. A captive bred dolphin, even if the mother was originally wild, gets around all the export laws and is easy to sell. One of the dolphin captors who tried to use the conservation argument, said he wished all wild animals could be worth so much money ($100,000 per dolphin) because then people would protect them.

In my opinion, this documentary was an example of man's animal exploitation at it's worst.
