I like Barry Faires, but he is being too nice.
We called the Indians savages, because they tried to defend their country and livelihood.
The white man came and not only took the land, but also the means for the Indians to live.
The white man called them savages because they killed the white man where they could. The white man killed whole villages, children, women and old men and cut them up for the fun of it, Sand Creek for one example. The Indians retaliated, Custer at Little Bighorn, for one example.
And who can blame them?!
Guess who the real savages are?
And who is killing each other ever more so today, plus innocent animals??
