This was a horrible thing to see. It's really very interesting and very sad in that so many people do not care about our wildlife. You hear comments like "kill all the bears" and wonder what brought mankind to this base level? The following is the excerpt from the Gibsons newspaper. They really cleaned up the article so it just appeared like another routine bear killing. Bears are starving due to lack of food and how does society react.... destroy them. Kinda makes one ashamed to be part of the human race, n'est-ce pas?

RCMP kill garbage-feeding black bear in Gibsons

Sunshine Coast RCMP shot and killed an adult black bear Monday that had become habituated to garbage at the Sunnycrest Mall in Gibsons.

Mounties shot and wounded the bear while it rummaged in the bins in the mall's loading dock, and finished it off when it ran into the parking lot.

Police urge the public to lock all garbage bins
