The Yukon Quest is searching for new sponsors for its annual sled dog race. With the downturn in the economy, previous sponsors have pulled out this year, but organizers say they're confident everything will be ready in time.

Race organizers are also trying to drum up money after getting the boot from a major sponsor.

[According to Yukon Quest executive director Stephen Reynolds, Sorel told the Quest that it is looking for an "image change" (more urban marketing)].

The CBC report goes on to say that several mining and exploration companies have pulled out because of "financial uncertainty."

The story concludes that the Quest organization has lost $10,000 to $15,000 of sponsorship revenue, that has not yet been made up. Reynolds says new sponsorship deals are "in the works" and he's "confident the Yukon Quest will make up the shortfall."
