Felix has two broken hips but is now safe with Big Heart Rescue *LINK* *PIC*

My bones are broken but my heart is not. You see my life was very difficult and I lived all on my own, without a person to love me, a house to sleep in or wholesome food in a nice bowl.

I wandered the town, begging for food, for love and for safety and then one horrible day last week a car hit me and I dragged myself to a lonely isolated beach where I lay in pain, waiting to die.

Then an amazing thing happened! A kind and loving RCMP officer found me and called Big Heart Rescue to see if they could help me live again and I learned that they said yes, please send this broken boy into our arms so that we may help to heal his body and his spirit.

The nice RCMP officer arranged for a flight for me on Pacific Coastal Airlines and when I arrived I was scared, sick and unsure of what my future would be. Then I was off to the emergency vet in Vancouver where they told me I was emaciated because I only weigh 65 pounds and I should weigh around 100 pounds, that I had terrible wounds to my legs and I was in very poor body condition.

The nice Drs. gave me pain medication and fluids until the next morning when the Big Heart Rescue ladies came and took me to another Dr. so I could have x-rays and find out what else was wrong with me. I still wasn't feeling very good and I couldn't walk at all. The new Dr. told me I had two broken hips and then I had to have surgery where they put in a plate and a pin to hold me back together so that I could try and walk again.

Now my loving foster Mom is helping me to walk with this thing called a sling and I am feeling so much better.

I never knew that there were kind people who would feed me, keep me warm and help me in this world. I never knew that being inside a house is where all dogs belong, that being touched gently felt so good and that I no longer had to fear the cold, the wet and the heat.

I am loved now, for the first time in my life and I know that all my tomorrow's will only get better. My foster Mom tells me I am a good boy, that I am an old soul and that she will help to find my forever family, who will be as kind and loving as she is.

Once my wounds are healed and my body is ready, this new family will take me home with them and I will get to live out the rest of my life as a beloved friend....oh, I can hardly wait to be someone's best friend because this is what I missed most in my life.

If you think I might be your new friend, a friend you cherish and will love forever please send Gail a note and ask for an adoption application at spiritsmission@shaw.ca

Note: Big Heart Rescue adopts within a two hour drive of the lower mainland and Vancouver/Gulf Islands only
