Declared, "useless", would a bullet end Lacey's life?

An adopter with Big Heart Rescue was contacted about a shy, frightened two year old Border Collie who had been declared USELESS by her owner and was told that this little girl's life was about to come to an end, via a bullet.

Quickly, two compassionate women took little Lacey away before she could be so cruelly killed and she was brought into the safety of a loving foster home.

For the first time in Lacey's short and tragic life she knew that her heart would heal, that she could sleep contently at night inside a house and that all her tomorrows would be would be filled with the love of a new family who would adore her, forever.

Little Lacey has given birth to three litter's of puppies in her short two years on earth and of the last litter, 3 froze to death, 2 drowned, 1 was rescued and we are told that the remaining 2 have homes.

At first, Lacey was so bewildered at the kindness of her foster Mom. No shouting, no anger, just an invite onto the couch, a gentle cuddle while being held in soft arms and though she could not understand the words "good girl" she understood the tone of a soothing voice reassuring her that she would never suffer again.

Lacey will be taken to the vet within the week for a full blood panel to ensure she is healthy enough to be spayed and to under-go dental work as she is missing some of her front teeth. We have no understanding how these teeth are missing nor how this could have happened to such a young companion.

Once Lacey has recovered from her surgery she will be looking for a family who will help her to find comfort in the security of a home that is filled with love. Her perfect home will be a family with someone home most of the day, a family who is interested in either agility or fly ball, have a securely fenced yard, who will encourage her with formal positive reinforcement training classes, another canine companion would be wonderful to help Lacey develop confidence and most importantly a family who will devote themselves to her, as she will to them.

This tiny girl who only weighs 30 pounds is currently fostered in the 100 Mile House area and should your application/home visit be approved the potential adoptive family must travel to meet her and hopefully bring her home to begin her new life.

Note: Lacey will not be adopted as a working dog on a farm or ranch
