Dear Senator Mac Harb,

I congratulate you on your stand against the seal hunt in this country.

I can not understand how any government can allow this degrading and shameful activity to continue in spite of the great majority of Canadians being totally against it.

It is bad enough that the government still allows so called sport hunting of other mammals in this country, where some moron with a high-powered rifle shoots an unsuspecting animal at 500 yards, while being perfectly safe from claws and teeth. Sport ???

Also "culling", which some misguided government officials call for at times is truly an interference with nature and must be stopped as well.

More and more Canadians are becoming aware of how badly we treat animals and the black embarrassing marks in beautiful Canada are becoming bigger and more pronounced as time goes on.

As a wise man once said: "A country can be judged by the way it's people treat the animals".

Good luck to you in your efforts to eliminate the seal slaughter.
