Vasectomies are "research"? Yet universities remove parts of rabbits' brains

Quote: 'Also, before he submits a written proposal that will be studied by several university committees, Shaw wants to remove about 10 rabbits so he can test the procedure for speed and efficiency. But that amounts to research, Sexsmith said. "As a university we have to be very careful about the ethical treatment of animals and research proposals would have to be examined."'

Would that all University and other research facilities were, indeed, very careful about the ethical treatment of animals. From every vivisection description and picture that I have ever come across, the horrific procedures that the animals endured was anything but ethical.

Hard to understand how performing a vasectomy on a rabbit in order to prevent dozens of new young each spring need come under the same heading as a research project that removes part of an animal's brain in order to study how that creature will react without it.

Once more, I am completely baffled by the lack of common sense in our society today.
