Sea Shepherd Society: ending the cruel shark fin trade *LINK* *PIC*

Sea Shepherd is continuing its defense of ocean wildlife worldwide. After a successful partnership with LUSH Cosmetics to defend the Canadian harp seal, we now turn our attention to defending sharks and ending the cruel shark fin trade, both with an exciting partnership with the Underwater Channel and with a new outreach campaign in Brazil. As we continue to defend the sharks and the seals, the whales never leave our minds. We are looking forward to the second season of Whale Wars, which premiers on June 5th at 9 PM on Animal Planet.

Sea Shepherd remains on the front-lines of the battle for shark conservation, an issue that is one of the greatest marine conservation concerns globally. We are honored to take the next step in our long-term and firm commitment to shark conservation by partnering with The Underwater Channel in its campaign to put an end to shark finning. Sea Shepherd and The Underwater Channel share a belief that it is completely unacceptable that sharks, which are one of earth's oldest inhabitants, are now being pushed towards extinction by man.

On April 1st, Sea Shepherd Brazil launched a campaign to defend sharks in South America's largest country. The "Shark Defense Campaign" aims to educate the public about these animals' importance and fragility as well as punishing companies that have caused grave damage to shark populations in Brazil.

The participation of the general public is a big part of the shark defense campaign, which also looks to involve restaurants and retailers in not selling any shark products.
