First Nations were treated much like and in many cases worse than the worst of the dog abuses cases

As someone who works closely with First Nations people in Vancouver and who knows how deeply the Residential School program negatively impacted First Nations families across Canada, I hope you mention this at some point in reference to the Reserve dogs you are rescuing.

First Nations were treated much like and in many cases worse than the worst of the dog abuses cases you report on. Children were raped, murdered, and tortured after being ripped away from their families. One man refused to give up his children, so he spent 9 years in jail, one year for each child he didn't surrender. But then he was apart from them anyways, in jail.

The book "Stolen from Our Embrace" is almost unreadable because of the many cruelties is documents. This is an aspect of Canadian history that many people want to deny, just like the suffering of animals, because it's to painful to grasp or comprehend.

This doesn't justify animals being neglected on reserves, but it does help to explain it. It will take many generation for First Nations to heal, but thankfully, they are, and they have many knowledgeable Elders to help them, and people like me who had similar experiences.
