Animal Advocates Watchdog

I often think about what would have happened to him if my husband and I hadn't adopted him that day

We had Whisky checked out thoroughly by the vet when it got to the point where he wouldn't even go for walks anymore (2 yrs ago). There wasn't anything physically wrong, so the vet tried him on an anti-anxiety drug for a couple of months but we didn't see an improvement so stopped using it. Since, we've gotten advice from two different trainers who have both shown us useful techniques to keep him calmer around other dogs and more mentally stimulated. Instead of walks around the neighbourhood, we mainly take off-leash hikes in the woods and he LOVES it. Although he'll never be dog social, we're very committed to giving him a good quality of life and working around his issues. I often think about what would have happened to him if my husband and I hadn't adopted him that day. I'm sure most adopters wouldn't have tried to deal with his problems and stuck with him (especially after being bitten a few times!). He'd either have been put to sleep by his new 'owners' or returned to the SPCA for their decision. Instead, he lives with 4 cats and is currently snuggling on the couch next to me with my other dog by his side :)

Walking the same concrete is like reading the same newspaper every day - how boring would that be for us?
And the Delta SPCA wanted to kill Cheech! *LINK* *PIC*
Good for you for having the courage to speak out against the lack of SPCA ethics
