There is a huge Cane Corso with his ears hacked off to nubs at the Van SPCA right now

Dear Mr. Geehan,
Assuming what you say is correct, (and I am dubious, given what breeders say about the Cane Corso disposition) the concern about the average Joe owning this breed and other protection breeds is very valid.
There are so few people that know how to raise a dog well. Witness all the dogs in shelters with problems created by owners; fearful dogs, aggressive dogs, unsocialized dogs, the list goes on. These are the "regular" breeds and mixes, who are supposed to be family pets.
What are protection breed enthusiasts doing to ensure that new owners are the "right" people to own these dogs are are well informed on how to raise them? Are breeders rescuing the dogs that are abandoned by their owners?
There is a huge Cane Corso with his ears hacked off to nubs at the Van SPCA right now. He seems to be OK with people, but is very dog aggressive. Perhaps an breed enthusiast will take him in.

Cane Corso puppy - already has issues
Re: Cane Corso puppy - already has issues
What possible good reason is there for breeding these dogs?
How many reasons do you need to breed a fine animal?
