Katie's Place asked the City of Maple Ridge to help us. The answer? No. It never occurred to Katie's Place to ask the SPCA for support. I think the assumption was that they wouldn't have been interested. In the best of worlds, the SPCA would do as you suggest. The Maple Ridge SPCA is better than it was in '99, but it still has a long way to go. There are things that need changing and I suspect the SPCA would quickly slip into complacency if they were allowed to, so I am glad that you are still fighting them. It's management and the Board of Directors who must answer for what's going on in my opinion. I think the staff I've met are fed up with head office and are hoping that your fight against them is successful. I have a strong suspicion that the front line staff have taken heat from management for fighting so hard for the animals, for not allowing them to be killed for ringworm etc. I just want to make sure that credit and blame go where they belong within the SPCA. Management of ferals is one of the many things the SPCA has been dragging its feet on. Just my opinion.
