VANCOUVER -- A public relations battle between a B.C. salmon farm and an environmentalist is going before the courts.

A B.C. Supreme Court lawsuit has been filed in Vancouver against Don Staniford of Friends of Clayoquot Sound.

The lawsuit from the Creative Salmon Company claims Staniford falsely and maliciously published two media releases.

Company lawyer Dale Sanderson says the releases wrongly accuse Creative of lying to the public about its organic fish.

Spencer Evans, the general manager of Creative Salmon, says he's had it with the environmentalist and what Evans calls a misinformation campaign.

The lawsuit claims Creative Salmon's trading and business reputation have been damaged by Staniford's actions.

A statement of defence hasn't yet been filed.
