Who'll save the Norway rats?

Who'll save the Norway rats?

My suspicions have been confirmed. The "nuts" are in charge of the "nut house!"

Songbirds no longer raise babies in our yard and two filbert trees fell to the axe when it became apparent that we would never again taste the fruits of our labour.

For the past few years, invasive grey squirrels harvested all nuts before they matured and I'm suspicious that they also "harvested" the songbird eggs.

I'm amazed that well-meaning folk can find nothing better to do than to nurse invasive species.

That being said, up here in Cowichan, did you know that American bullfrogs hiding in the scotch broom are decimating Norway rat babies?

Bring on your feeding syringes and moist Q-tips. Meanwhile, I'll continue to aim my car at as many of the little buggers as I can.
