This incident absolutely sickens me. I can't begin to imagine how frightened, confused, and unsafe this victim must have felt. The decisions based on assessments made by anyone in an environment which was far from comforting and reassuring are not justifiable. No amount of talk will convince me that this defenseless, voiceless victim needs to wait until it comes back to us here on earth to receive the love and care that is deserved. This victim deserved that loving and caring now, in a safe, non-threatening and appropriate environment with an experienced and knowledgeable caregiver where and until he\she is given every possible opportunity to succeed. Is there such a place? Is there such a person? The answer to both questions is a 'yes'. Is there a guarantee? Of course there is not. That does not tell me that exhausting every possible means to save the life of an innocent victim is not the right and selfless step to take. I mourn the loss of the precious soul of this victim, who unlike Cheech, did not have a chance or a voice to cry out for life, not death.
