The SPCA's well-deserved reputation as a Pit Bull killer

Yesterday a Pit Bull got into a Surrey elementary school where it bit a child and was cornered in a washroom. Distraught children were told by a teacher that the SPCA was coming to get the dog and would put it down. That is how bad the SPCA's reputation is - everyone just assumes the SPCA kills dogs.

Surrey SPCA has a reputation in the rescue network for killing Pit Bulls especially. Killing Pit Bulls is not part of the SPCA's mandate to protect animals, but it is taking money to protect people by killing dogs. Killing the problem actually makes money for the SPCA and it can't be called animal welfare by any stretch.

Yesterday AAS got a phone call from a man in Surrey wanting help to get his Pit Bull back from the Surrey SPCA, and today we got a call from someone trying to help another owner of a Pit Bull seized by the Surrey SPCA. All we can do is give the phone number of a lawyer who is well-versed in dealing with the SPCA and municipal dog control.

SPCA CEO Craig Daniell has donned the SPCA's white hat in a new campaign to counter all the terrible P.R in the last four years, a lot of it due to the SPCA's ruthless dog catcher/disposer contracting business which hires the type of person who does not object to killing animals.

Daniell wants everyone to believe that the SPCA needs over a million dollars a year and increased powers from the government so that it can prevent cruelty. But as long as it is in the dog catching/killing business the SPCA's black hat is plain to everyone and the message that it itself is cruel and ruthless will not go away.

I saw them sell a Pit Bull to a brute and I'll never give them another cent
