Animal Advocates Watchdog

Improvements noted at Maple Ridge SPCA *PIC*

This dog at Maple Ridge SPCA has several strikes against him, and in the past he'd most likely have been labelled "unadoptable" and put to sleep. He's an intact male Rottie, with a physical deformity, separation anxiety, some dog aggression, no training, and he's not house-trained. I am so pleased to see the lengths the Maple Ridge SPCA is going, to help this poor dog and give him a chance. Plus he's being neutered. I noticed too, that several other dogs at the Maple Ridge SPCA received pre-adoption training. These are great examples of real animal welfare!

ZIGGY #23370
Dog
Rottweiler

Notes: PLEASE NOTE: ZIGGY WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION JAN 20 AT 12 NOON , AFTER HE HAS BEEN NEUTERED, WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR HIM AND YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME MEET ZIGGY BEFORE HIS NEUTER DATE. Ziggy came in as a stray, he needs a home with breed knowledge and someone with no other dogs as he can be defensive around dogs he doesn't know. He can be a bit excitable and needs basic positive reinforcement training, he needs some leash skills as well. Ziggy needs someone who can devote some time and energy in him as he loves people and has been neglected. He needs someone home a lot as he can be a bit anxious, and he needs gradual departure exercises done and given smart toys when left alone. Ziggy was in foster care for one day, here is the fosters report on him. Ziggy is an alert and attentive young dog. It is obvious that Ziggy has been seriously injured in the past, his jaw has some damage, but in spite of this he is a pleasant and trusting dog. He seemed to really want to interact with people and tried to pay attention and do what was asked of him. He may need housetraining as it appears he was an outside only dog, but he will be an easy dog to train as he wants to do well and please his instructors. He had a good appetite and he did not mind going into a crate for bedtime after he understood what was wanted of him. This little guy will make a faithful companion and deserves a loving home environment.
