Animal Advocates Watchdog

I cried as I watched the video of Alfie the golden retriever and Willy the German Shepherd

Hi AAS,

Thanks for sending me the latest news from the Animal Advocates' Web page.

I cried as I watched the video of Alfie the golden retriever and Willy the German Shepherd, viewing before and after pictures of them. That was a perfect song you chose for the video.... "What a difference a day makes"... should be the theme song for all animal rescue people. I loved seeing the pictures of Alfie and Willy running free, and looking so happy in their new homes. It is hard knowing that there are many animal owners that treat their pets in a similar or worse manner than how Willy and Alfie were treated. How did Alfie's owner's sleep at night, knowing a precious beautiful animal like Alfie the golden retriever, was lying outside, on a chain, with his muzzle taped to prevent his barking? He was barking for attention... that is all. So glad that AAS intervened in this situation and in so many others.

We are forever grateful that you allowed us to adopt Kito, a yellow lab/husky, who also was chained up 24/7, for about 6 yrs, then sent to a so called rescue, who did not treat his ongoing extensive ear infections, and then lied and said they had him seen by a vet.

Animal Advocates is a blessing to unwanted, neglected, abused animals of BC. The SPCA was called a number of times about Kito, because his former owner left him chained to a basement stair well 24/7, and the SPCA said they can do nothing. It is time the laws were changed so that animals have more protection from abusive or neglectful owners. It is also high time that the SPCA became what its initials stand for "Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals".... if they are not going to intervene when they receive repeated calls from neighbours of abused pets, and continue to do nothing to stop the cruelty, then it is time they changed their name.

Come on SPCA ..... step up and start doing what your name implies.... prevent cruelty to animals !

Too bad that the public's donations to the SPCA does not all go to the care of the animals. What a shame their donations are helping to fund a law suit against AAS, instead of going straight to the care of the animals that need their help.

Oh, and if any SPCA managers are reading this.... and think they can sue me, and the hundreds of others who are willing to vouch for AAS.... WRONG !!! I am only stating the truth, and so is AAS, and truth will prevail in the end.

Regards,

Marion Lindsay

The SPCA is asking the province for tougher animal cruelty laws and I can only hope that yard dogs are on the list
