Tom's of Maine Sells to Colgate
In Response To: Body Shop sells to L'Oreal ()

Tom's of Maine Natural Care Products has sold their company to Colgate-Palmolive.
Tom's will keep a minority ownership and remain as CEO and Vice President.
Tom's of Maine has been notable for not using animal testing or animal ingredients in their products.
Not so, Colgate.
In March 1999, Colgate-Palmolive established a moratorium on animal testing for adult personal care products.
However, Colgate is still using animals in the testing of flouride for it's toothpaste.
Tom's of Maine claims that their products will not change, but since they have just sold the major share of it's company to Colgate, how can they give such assurances?
Until today, I have been paying up to 10 times the cost of Colgate's toothpaste, for "pure" Tom's of Maine toothpaste.
Now, I think I will make my own - it will be cheaper in more ways than one.
