Selling chicks at Kingsgate Mall

Barnyard folly

Letter
Published: Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Last weekend Easter was in the air at the Kingsgate shopping mall in East Vancouver, with activities for children and the Easter

Bunny in attendance.

Apparently, stupidity was as well.

Someone thought it would be fun to sell chicks in the mall for $5. That's chicks, as in baby chickens

One delighted family carted off their new pet in a laundry basket.

What will they do with this cute little chick when it matures?

Call the S.P.C.A. to rescue them?

Maybe next year mall administrators will be more thoughtful and share chicks with children in a petting-zoo environment rather than allowing countless families to be burdened by "cute."
