I think calling a rodeo a cultural event is quite a stretch. There may be respected veterinarians, but that does not mean the animals are treated humanely at all. I support Vancouver's decision to close the rodeo down.
As cirque de soleil did, there has got to be ways to entertain that does not include animals or hurting them. When animals are used for entertainment purposes, it tends to never end up being a good thing.
