From the BC SPCA's Humane Education package:
For example, you are discussing wildlife and one of the participants says he loves raccoons and when he grows up wants to keep one as a pet. The activity Keep Me Wild (in the Activities section) illustrates several reasons why keeping a wildanimal caged up as a pet is not fair to the animal and dangerous to people.
If the government allowed raccoons to be farmed for meat (and there will be a big market somewhere in the world so this is probably coming) would the SPCA take children to see a raccoon-meat farm, in the name of humane education?
