Vets for Street Pets June 12, 2006

Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders is thrilled to announce a very first successful Vets for Pets Street Clinic at 'Our Place' on Johnson Street.

We are very grateful to Dr. Kam Brar of Lifeline Animal Clinic, 3581 Shelbourne Street who examined and provided caring treatment for 26 cats and dogs.

All the animal participants in the Street Clinic received complimentary (if needed) vaccines, Advantage (flea control), and Drontal (deworming). Medications for an ear infection and a booking for necessary bloodwork for one cat was also provided.

Nineteen spays and neuters were booked to be done at Lifeline Clinic in the near future. These will also be completely funded by Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders.

A few of the animals seen today and their stories:

Snoopy - a much-loved 6 yr old spayed Australian Cattle Dog had her vaccines updated and was treated for flea allergies.

Peppy - a darling little Chihuahua was Advantaged, dewormed, deflead and booked for his neutering and nail clipping. Being a sensitive little guy his nail clipping will be done while he is unaware.

Baby - unfortunately Baby came in not feeling 100% so Baby will receive further care at Lifeline Clinic to determine what his problem is and to make him healthy enough to neuter and vaccinate in the future.

Harrah - a little Rotti who received her vaccines and was dewormed. She will be spayed at Lifeline Clinic shortly.

We are incredibly grateful to the support of all the volunteers that came to help, Dr Kam Brar and his staff for their incredible caring, Our Place and their staff/volunteers for providing us with the space and opportunity to hold the Clinic. And a big thanks to the Street Community for trusting us with their animals.
