Breeding dogs to protect and fight causes so much suffering

Absolutely!! This issue burns me so much...as a former Vancouver pound and Burnaby SPCA volunteer, all the dogs in there are the bigger dogs. Dogs who mostly irresponsible owners buy and then dump. And no one wants them because of their predisposition to bite, or for instance, in the case of pit bulls, their bad reputation.

Who in the world is going to adopt these dogs? Not responsible family people...the very, very, very few responsible owners cry for the love of their breed, while thousands of these dogs lament in 'jail cells' enduring undue stress. It is totally, totally unfair. Go to any shelter and see how many pit and rottie crosses there are in there. EVERY shelter in BC...I know there are a ton of dogs.

What a different world it would be for dogs and the public if only the breeds bred for doing well with people are born, who have NO genetic predisposition to harm for any reason. And if for some reason people cannot keep their friendly dog..and there are often good reasons...it would be sooo much easier to rehome these dogs into good homes.
